Pseudo Color Exposure Control in 3ds Max
The Pseudo Color Exposure control enables one to understand the actual Illuminance or Luminance levels (for daylighting analysis) with a color map rendering.
Workflow
Watch the video
The Sun and Mental Ray rendering setting procedure is the same as basic daylight rendering:
Go to Rendering>Environment>Exposure Control
Select Pseudo color exposure control
Check Process environment and background maps
Set Quantity:
Illuminance,
Style:
Colored,
Scale:
Logarithmic. These values can be changed after the preview render to see different options.
In Display Range,
Set Min:
0,
Max:
150000-200000. The values can be changed to get the correct range of colors depending upon the scene.
Keep the Physical scale to default 1500 cd. This should be changed as the last resort to get a good spectrum.
Hit Render Preview. The image can be tried with variations as stated above. Once done, exit.
Go to Render (F10). Set image size and render.
Save the image.
